The 100-acre Valley Farm in historic East Woodstock has been owned and operated by four generations of the Eddy family.
When the youngest generation of Eddys decided to sell the farm, the Town of Woodstock asked TPL to help preserve this important
agricultural resource. Located at the heart of more than 1,000 acres of working lands, more than 90 percent of Valley Farm
soils are classifi ed as Prime Agricultural or Farmland Soil of Statewide Significance. The farm is an important source of
hay, silage, and other products crucial to the local dairy farming community. The parcel also includes several abutting farms
already protected under the state's Farmland Preservation Program. The farm is also highly valued for the scenic vistas it
provides along two of Woodstock's highly traveled roads.
